November 24 was a big day for the team! We had our Meet & Greet fundraiser and the Legacy Dodge Santa Clause Parade. Both events went smoothly and everyone enjoyed getting to know the dogs and myself. We paired up with the Justin Slade Youth Foundation and our float won Best in Parade - Youth Group! We decided that our winnings should be donated to the Fort McMurray SPCA!
Last Friday CBC National News came to town to do a story on me and the dogs. We spent a whole day together! While I gave the reporter a quick lesson on mushing, the camera crew and producer were busy getting love and kisses from the dogs. I took them out on the sled for a couple rides and I think they got some really good shots! The story will be airing December 12 on CBC's The National.
Training has been going good as well. Yesterday we did 60 miles! As we increase the milage day by day the dogs will build their endurance and muscle. I have been so busy preparing and training the dogs, I have slacked off with my own training! Time to hit the treadmill and get ready for the mountains that we have to climb!
Christmas is just around the corner and soon it will be the start of the race. Needless to say I already feel so unprepared and the stress is starting to hit! Its soon time for a relax day for me and the pups!
